The Giambri Story
Giambri's Quality Sweets was founded in 1942 by James Giambri. James was an Italian immigrant who came to the United States in the late 1800s. James opened Giambri's in South Philadelphia, and mostly wholesaled his sweets to other candy stores. He made all of his candies by hand with quality ingredients, something that has not changed at Giambri's for 70 years.
In 1951, Anthony Giambri, Sr. opened a store front in New Jersey to sell his Uncle Jim's homemade confections. He operated the store for a few years before changing career paths. In 1971, Anthony returned to the family candy company, and this time he took ownership. Anthony also moved the company to our current Clementon, NJ location in '72. James remained with the company for several years to pass down the family recipes to Anthony, his wife, Josephine, and five sons, Anthony, Jr., Joe, Sal, Matt, and Dave. Tragically, both James and Anthony, Sr. passed away in 1980, leaving the business in the hands of Josephine and their five sons.
In the late 1990s, Dave Giambri took ownership of Giambri's Quality Sweets. Today, with the help of his wife, three children, and brothers, Dave is continuing the family tradition of quality, handmade, Giambri's candy!
